Playa AI — AI Needs Culture

Playa AI is a human-centered AI initiative developing consent frameworks, community experiments, tools, and public-interest research rooted in creativity and participation.

Playa AI brings artists, builders, researchers, funders, and community stewards together to shape AI around creativity, consent, participation, and human flourishing. We convene gatherings, test AI experiences with communities, and publish working drafts. AI is shaping how people create, remember, decide, relate, and imagine; affected communities should help shape its design. Human agency means choosing whether to take part, deciding what to share, and keeping human judgment central. Born in the Black Rock Desert community, the inquiry reaches year-round beyond one event or place. We convene. We build. We fund. We publish. Funding opportunities are still taking shape. Selected initiatives include Connect App, a live pilot; the Living Trust Framework, a public working draft; and EELP (Ethical Experience Lab Protocol), a public draft.
